So nothing really interesting has happened the last few days at work so I apologize for the delay. But I do have a few tid bits of stories about some of my customers over the last few days.

First of all, I worked a 6am to 2pm shift yesterday and let me tell you those are not  fun. I do not like getting up at 5 30 in the morning. I give major kudos to the ones that do it every day. There is not way I'd be able to do it day in and day out. I would go nuts.

But anyway...my store has a fuel court attached to it, meaning we have gas pumps. Now it was probably around noon that a man was filling up his tank and decided to drive away with the hose still attached to his car. This is called a break away and is I guess not so surprisingly, kinda common. But our hoses are meant to detach if they are unceremoniously yanked from the station. So not only did the man drive away with our hose he sped through the parking lot doing probably 45 and parked in front of the store. Then proceeded to come into the store, storm into the office and yell at my Assistant Manager like it was all her fault. Sometimes I just don't get people.

When you're standing at the front registers you have an awesome view of the parking lot through the wall of huge bay windows. Some funny things happen in the parking lot. I've seen fights and screaming matches, accidents and love making. We have a very active parking lot. But the thing that gets me is how impatient people tend to be. I've seen people do 50 mph in my parking lot when its full of people with no regard for the people that are walking or for other cars.

When Hurricane Irene came through last year, the day before it seemed like everyone and there mother was at my store getting gas. The parking lot was packed. It took me a full 10 minutes to get from the entrance to the other side where the associates park. It was nuts. We had five gas guys pumping the gas and two guys directing traffic it was so bad.

Then there was the time I had to call the police on the kids that were breaking beer bottles in the parking lot at 2am. I used to work the overnight shift (aka 3rd shift) and boy did we have some exciting times then. But this time in particular, there were a bunch of people maybe 5 of them all sitting in the parking lot in the middle of the night. The eventually left leaving shattered beer bottles all over the parking lot. The midnight gas guy cleaned them up because he was awesome like that. But low and behold  2 hours later they were back in the exact same spot. Being me, the second my gas guy told me I was on the phone with the cops. One eventually came and told them to scram so they went to the gas pumps and tried to pay for gas. The gas was pumped into their car but it turned out the card they were trying to use wasnt working. So two of them had to sit at the store with their car blocking a pump for 3 hours while the other 3 went and tried to track down 10 bucks. They tried to bum it off me but I resolutely told them no. It would have been amusing if it wasnt so frustrating.

Well I think that's all I have for now. I have work later so maybe something interesting will happen and you will get a post tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed this. Leave a comment if you did. Hell leave a comment if you didn't!

So I started a blog similar to this several years ago but for some reason I never kept up with it but now I think I have enough focus to keep it going this time...so onto the blog!

This is a blog dedicated to the happenings at the convenience store that I work at. It's a major chain in the United States. All stores sell a variety of things from milk to cigarettes to coffee to food that is prepared in our deli. And most have a gas station attached to it. The store is run by maybe 40 employees. Most work inside but there are maybe 15 gas attendants. There are four managers though one of them is on medical leave right now which is throwing everything into disorder at the moment. I will be changing everyone's names, just like I'm not naming the store its self, to protect not only myself but also the reputation of the store as well as my fellow employees. I figure if I keep all the names and things on the down low I can't get in trouble.

Now...my main shift is the afternoon into evening shift also called Second Shift. It's not as busy as the First Shift (which is the morning shift) or as unpredictable as Third Shift (the midnight shift) but we get our fair share of stories and I figured people might really like to know what really goes on in my store.

Some of you reading this may be my customers or even my coworkers so I please ask you if you leave comments please keep with the names I'm going to give my coworkers. I want to keep everything anonymous.

So...to start this off I'm going to tell the story that sticks out in my head the most.

I was behind the deli one night several months ago. It was maybe 10pm. There was another coworker back there with me. Several orders were on the screens so we were making the sandwiches. The two customers were waiting for the sandwiches were standing in front of the counter as they are want to do. We finished the orders and I looked at one of the women waiting for her sandwich and asked her what her number order was. She gave me a hostile look and asked "What?" I repeated myself. She, in a not so nice voice, said she didnt know what I was talking about. So I asked to see her ticket in a pleasant voice, all smiles. She roughly shoved her ticket into my face. I looked at the number and gave her her order and wished her a good night. As she turned to leave, she mumbled in a not so quiet voice "What a bitch!" Now I was nothing but pleasant to this woman. She didn't know me from Adam. I smiled and made her food in a timely manner. I did everything right and for some reason she decided that I was not being a good employee. So fearing for my job I immediately went up to my manager and told him the whole story just in case the woman decided to take her grumbles a step further and logged a formal complaint. Thankfully she did not but now you can see some of the customers we deal with on a regular basis.

So I have work in two hours. I'm sure I'll have another story for you after that. Stay tuned my readers!
